Steven Haidinger 

 

Steve began studying tai chi and qigong from Master Choe Hwang Sun while in the U.S. Air Force stationed in the Republic of South Korea. After retiring, he studied with Joy Xu McCarthy, who taught Chinese dance and Tai Chi in San Angelo, Texas. Steve has studied Qigong under Master Li Jun Feng through the Academy of Oriental Medicine in Austin, Texas. Steve owns and operates his on studio. He also teaches at local senior centers, university, and a state assisted living facility.  Currently Steve is a certified professional Tai Chi and Qigong instructor for the Health Preservation Association and student of Tai Chi and Kung Fu Grand Master Jiang Jianye.

In 2011, Steve traveled to China to study Tai Chi and Qigong at Mount Wudang the birth place of Tai Chi.

  • Aug 03 - Oct 03: Goodfellow AFB, San Angelo, Texas Taught Tai Chi at base activities center. Developed comprehensive lesson plan and training guide for a complete fitness program centered on the Beijing style of Tai Chi and chi kung stretching exercise

  • Sep 2003-present:  Established Tai Chi Concho Club

  • Apr 04- Jul 04: San Angelo State School, Carlsbad Texas. Planed and conducted a four-month long class on Tai Chi for consumers. Taught Tai Chi and chi kung to the students once per week. Results showed a marked decrease in violent attacks by consumers and reduced stress level. Dr. Phillip Baugh, State School Superintendent lauded program.

  • Apr 04 Conducted First World Tai Chi and Qigong Day in San Angelo, TX.

  • Feb 05 - present: Senior Center, Station 618, San Angelo, Texas: Contracted by City of San Angelo to develop and teach Tai Chi for health program to senior citizens. Developed and delivered one-hour classes twice per week on the simplified Tai Chi designed for people with limited movement and arthritis

  • Mar 05 Established Tai Chi in the Park Program, San Angelo, TX.

  • Apr 05  Gained Mayor of San Angelo proclamation for World Tai Chi Day.

  • Apr 05 - present: Planned and conducted a two-hour stress management classes based on chi kung mediation. Clients and new and existing staff members who work in high stress jobs serving the consumers at the State School facility. Results showed a marked decrease stress related incidents and reduced stress level. Dr. Phillip Baugh, State School Superintendent endorses the program.

  • Sep 05 - Feb 11: Adult Enrichment Center of San Angelo, Texas: Contracted by Adult Enrichment Center to develop and teach seated Tai Chi for health program to disabled people. Developed and delivered one-hour classes once per week on the simplified Tai Chi and qigong designed for people with diminished abilities.

  • Sep 06 - 09: Instructed Beijing 24-form Tai Chi for Angelo State University, Adult Continuing Education Program.

  • Jan 09 - present: Tai Chi for Wellness Baptist Memorial Community Center, San Angelo, TX.

  • June - Aug 09 - Tai Chi techniques for stress management, Tom Green County Female Detention Center.

  • Oct 09 - Certified to teach Tai Chi for Arthritis Level 1 and 2.

  • Nov 09 - Relocated Tai Chi Concho Club to 227 N. Main Suite C.

  • Apr 2010 - Mayor of San Angelo issues new city Proclamation for Tai Chi and Qigong in San Angelo.

  • Oct 2010 - Certified Tai Chi and Qigong instructor for the Health Preservation Association.
